According to Carol reframing is one of the number one skills a person needs to learn and practice. "Take a positive spin on anything that happens to you and view it not from a victim's point of view but from a survivor's point of view."

Teresa asks, "How do you counsel someone who has been abused -- sexually, physically or emotionally -- to take them out of that victim trap?"

Carol says that she asks the person, "To identify how has it made you stronger? Has it taught you something about life?" They tackle both good and bad things about it; then tell them to react to life from the good things. It takes a lot of practice. That way you are a survivor not a victim,

Final tips for viewers who have been abused; what they can do to overcome it?

Carol's advice is to seek professional help or a support group. Two vehicles for changing one's life and to find out what your strengths are.
